Starter Service Kit

A concrete product with a clear subject and real-world context.

The Starter Service Kit is built for owners of older timber structures who need a careful first assessment before any serious restoration work begins. It is not a full conservation package, but a defined starting point that gives you a documented picture of what your beams, joints, and carved elements actually need.

We begin with a site visit to your property, whether that is a townhouse with sagging floor joists, a barn with a damaged roof frame, or a library with cracked cornice sections. During that visit we inspect the visible timber, check for moisture marks, insect activity, and old repairs that may have weakened the original joinery. You receive a written condition summary with photographs, a list of priority concerns, and a plain-language explanation of which elements are structural and which are purely decorative.

The kit also includes a short consultation with one of our master joiners. You can ask about the feasibility of repairing a specific mortise-and-tenon joint, whether a hand-carved cornice can be saved in place, or what kind of protective wax finish suits the wood species in your building. We keep the conversation practical and tied to your actual situation, not to generic advice.

What you receive is a clear starting document: a condition report, a set of recommended next steps, and a realistic sense of the work involved. There is no obligation to proceed with a larger project after the kit is delivered. Many clients use it simply to understand what they are dealing with before they decide on a full restoration.

The kit is suitable for a single room, a hall, or a section of a building. It is not intended for whole-property surveys or for buildings with active structural failure. If we find serious issues during the visit, we will say so directly and explain what kind of specialist assessment is needed.
