Terms of Service
These terms govern the provision of timber conservation, structural joinery, and architectural millwork restoration services by Maison Georges Edouard. Please read them carefully before commissioning any work.
Our atelier provides specialist services including the reconstruction of traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, repair of hand-carved cornices, timber beam preservation, and the application of protective cold-pressed organic wax polishes. Work is performed on-site or in our workshop depending on the nature of the commission. A detailed written proposal will be provided before any work commences, outlining the specific tasks, materials, and expected timeline.
The client agrees to provide reasonable access to the property or items requiring work, and to disclose any known history of the structure, including prior treatments, pest damage, or previous repairs. Accurate information about the age and origin of timber elements helps us select appropriate conservation methods. The client is responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions for work on listed or protected buildings.
Maison Georges Edouard commits to performing all work with the care and skill expected of a heritage joinery atelier. We use traditional techniques and materials appropriate to the age and character of each piece. Where modern reinforcement is necessary for safety, it will be integrated discreetly and discussed with the client beforehand. We do not guarantee outcomes that depend on conditions we cannot control, such as ongoing moisture exposure or structural movement unrelated to our work.
Our liability is limited to the value of the specific services rendered for a given project. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including loss of use, loss of value to the property, or costs arising from delays caused by factors outside our reasonable control. Timber is a natural material, and minor variations in colour, grain, or texture after treatment are expected and do not constitute defects.
Either party may terminate a commission with written notice. If work is terminated before completion, the client is responsible for payment for all work completed up to the date of termination, plus any materials already procured for the project. We reserve the right to suspend work if site conditions present an unreasonable risk to our craftspeople or if the client fails to meet their responsibilities as outlined in section 2.
We may update these terms periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The version published on this website at the time a commission is agreed will apply to that project.
